What counts as winter equipment?
Crampons and ice axe prevent slipping on hard snow and ice,
avalanche transceiver helps locate a victim under an avalanche,
folding shovel assists in digging out a victim buried by an avalanche,
waterproof footwear and warm clothing prevent hypothermia,
first aid kit for treating the injured,
mobile phone to notify the mountain rescue service of an accident (emergency centre 112),
helmet protects against falling rocks,
headlamp helps if darkness falls,
it is also good to carry a bivouac sack, sufficient food and drink, spare clothing...
