Zasavska Hut at Prehodavci the highest alpine hut and Dom na Kofcah the best mountain hut 2019.
[award] and confirmation that we are working in the right direction, we are proud of this," said Jože Šušteršič, president of PD Radeče.
The title of the best mountain hut 2019 was earned by Dom na Kofcah (PD Tržič), which with struklji attracts visitors to 1488 meters high under Košuta, and for the twenty-second year the Vogelnik family gives it its character. "I think that cuisine prevailed - we are most distinctive with struklji -, staff friendliness and quick service. Becoming the best mountain hut is a great satisfaction for us, an indicator that we are doing well - it is a reward for the past and encouragement for the future to improve even more. I thank all voters and the entire team, which is really a good collective," was enthusiastic tenant Peter Vogelnik: "All these years we have been investing in the hut, we cooperate well with the mountaineering club, every year we renovate something and thus do a lot of good for visitors, the most important is the collective, that they get along well, are satisfied and work well." Family-friendly mountain hut attracts all generations, from the youngest hikers for whom they also have a children's playground, to more experienced hikers who continue on the path to the Košuta ridge, and this year under the auspices of the Alpe Adria region of experiences project they have approached touring cyclists even more.
"We have been second in this selection several times, but this year we succeeded in winning. We are really happy because our main goal is satisfied visitors, and we know why we strive. You have to do this with heart and great joy for all people, also for the team itself, because it is not like in the valley, in a mountain hut you are actually at home. You have to feel good yourself to be satisfied and share it with others - this is your home where hikers come to visit," attracted Miha Mokorel, Vogelnik's right-hand man, and president of PD Tržič Uroš Ahačič is also proud: "We are happy, the right hut received this award, it really deserves it. There are not many caretakers like Peter! With his team it breathes and lives and spreads the mountaineering spirit as far as Ljubljana with the struklji story, care for hut renovation and tidiness. This means a lot to us for the further development of mountaineering in Tržič area, and it is confirmation that we are doing it right."
Finalists in the selection for the best mountain hut besides Dom na Kofcah (PD Tržič) were Planinski dom na Mrzlici (PD Trbovlje), Planinski dom pri Gospodični na Gorjancih (PD Krka Novo mesto), Planinski dom na Kumu (PD Kum Trbovlje) and Planinski dom na Kalu (PD Hrastnik). In the category of the highest alpine mountain hut, besides Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih (PD Radeče), the finalists were Pogačnikov dom na Kriških podih (PD Radovljica), Krekova koča na Ratitovcu (PD Za Selško dolino Železniki), Triglavski dom na Kredarici and Dom na Komni (both PD Ljubljana Matica).
Joint celebration for the best mountain hut 2019 with a short program and presentation of the plaque to both winners of this year's action will be on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Dom na Kofcah above Tržič.
Planinski dom na Mrzlici, second place in the selection for the best mountain hut, this weekend, September 14 and 15 (both with official opening at 11 a.m.), hosts the conclusion of the all-Slovenian mountaineering action Deaf Serve in Mountain Huts, which also this year experienced an excellent response, both among deaf, hard-of-hearing and people with cochlear implants as well as among hearing people. It started already in May at Planina nad Vrhniko, in June deaf served at Zelenica, Boč, Uštah - Žerenk, and pri Gospodični na Gorjancih, in July in Tamar, at Okrešelj and Kriških podih, in August at Kredarica, pod Stolom and in Ruška koča, last weekend at Kamniško sedlo, Čemšeniška planina and Slavnik.
"The action Deaf Serve in Mountain Huts takes place from May to September in 15 huts, in each there were seven volunteers, leader, two waiters, two animators and two Slovenian sign language interpreters. Caretakers warmly welcomed the volunteers, which meant a lot to them, and the caretakers were enthusiastic about the quick introduction to the work system in the hut and the skill of the volunteers. The huts were well visited and visitors surprised and enthusiastic about the different service, friendliness and punctuality of the deaf and hard-of-hearing," drew a line before the final event at Mrzlica Marjeta Čič and Jurček Nowakk, representatives of PZS in the working group Deaf Serve in Mountain Huts, and explained: "The action builds a bridge between the hearing world and the world of silence. By presenting challenges and advantages that deaf and hard-of-hearing have, the level of inclusion increases. It is important that the individual as a person who approaches friendly is in the foreground, and not his disability. Hut guests are enthusiastic about ordering without words, surprised by the ingenuity of the deaf and hard-of-hearing and curious how a word is shown with a gesture."
