Gamskögel (Westgipfel) is 2386 meter high peak located in the Lower Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 6 km east from the center of Sankt Johann am Tauern and 9 km south-southeast from the center of Hohentauern. The nearest mountain hut is Bergerhube, located 4km north-northeast. A little further is bivouac St. Johann am Tauern Ortsmitte. 0.8 km northwest of the peak there is lake Hirschensee.
