Schafkogel is 1550 meter high peak and is part of the Ennstal Alps. The peak is located 3 km northeast of peak Scheiblingstein and jugo-jugoeast above the mountain pasture Inselbacher Alm. The nearest mountain hut is Puglalm, located 2km northeast. A little further is bivouac Jagdhütte. East-northeast of the summit is the valley Frenzgraben.
