Schwarzer Ötscher is 1187 meter high peak and is part of the Ybbstal Alps. The peak is located 1.7 km west-southwest from the center of Lackenhof and 5 km east-southeast from the center of Polzberg. The nearest mountain hut is Ötscherschutzhaus, located 4km east-southeast. Closer is Jagdhütte, which is located 3km to the south-southwest. The peak is located west-southwest of the valley Klausgraben.
