Sommerauerstein is 1275 meter high peak with a cross and a summit register and is part of the Salzkammergut Mountains. The peak is located 0.3 km south of peak Käferwandl. The nearest mountain hut is Kienbergerhütte, located 5km north-northwest. Closer is Jagdhütte, which is located 1.2km to the northwest. 11 km northwest of the peak there is lake Mondsee. The peak is located southeast of the valley Klausbach. The peak is located above the ridge Käferwandl-Westkamm.
