Pri Mlinču - Škrbinica (Sinji dol) (hunter's trail)

Access to starting point:
a) Via the Rateče border crossing (MP Rateče), drive into Italy, then in Trbiž / Tarvisio turn left towards Predel / Cave del Predil. After a few hundred m turn left again in the same direction, then at the intersection by Rabeljsko jezero / Lago del Predil continue straight on the main road towards Slovenia (right Nevejski preval (Na Žlebeh) / Sella Nevea). Several hairpin turns and a drive through a tunnel follow, then we arrive at MP Predel, after which we drive back into Slovenia. We begin to descend further, then before the bridge with the largest span in the Julian Alps (bridge over Mangartski potok (signposted on road sign as Predel bridge 129 m)) turn left towards Mangart. Immediately after the intersection, a side road branch splits off, where parking is marked.
b) From Primorska drive to Log pod Mangartom, from there continue driving towards Italy. Before reaching MP Predel, after the Predel bridge (bridge over Mangartski potok) turn right towards Mangart. Park immediately after the bridge at the marked parking lot on the side road branch.

Route description:
From the small parking lot, head towards Mangartska Planina. Cut across the first road serpentine on a wide path. When the path reaches the large scree slope, start ascending it and it is not long before we encounter a path that runs perpendicular to the scree, which we follow to the west. The well-visible path enters the forest and reaches a wall, where we go off-trail, walking along the wall with it on our left until the wall runs out and we turn left into the gully, following it to the top where we meet a path again. Follow the path that traverses the slopes of Vršič until emerging from the forest to a path that winds through the brushwood and becomes rocky. Here our notch reveals itself, which is quickly reached via grassy slopes.
