Planina Podvežak - Mala Ojstrica (Kocbekova pot, via Molička planina)

Access to starting point:
First we drive to Luče, then continue by car into the Podvolovjek valley (direction Kamnik and Kranjski Rak). At the road sign between 11 and 11.5 km, we reach a small junction where a road branches off to the right towards the Planinšek farm and the Podvežak, Ravne and Vodole pastures (the junction is marked). We take this initially still asphalted road, following it at junctions in the direction of planina Podvežak. After a relatively long and in the upper part also poorer gravel road we reach the parking lot below planina Podvežak (at the starting point there is a barrier and numerous mountain signs).
From Kamnik we drive towards the Črnivec pass, but only to the junction where the road branches sharply left towards Kranjski Rak (the junction is marked and is located only 500 m before the mentioned pass). At the junction at Kranjski Rak we continue straight on the main road, which begins to descend into the Podvolovjek valley. In the mentioned valley, only 100 m after the Gams bar, we reach a junction where a road branches off to the left towards the Planinšek farm and the Podvežak, Ravne and Vodole pastures (the junction is marked). We then follow the description above.

Route description:
From the parking lot we head onto the footpath (or road) in the direction of planina Podvežak. Both the road and the footpath, which crosses a forest road during the ascent, take us in 15 minutes of moderate ascent to the shepherd's hut on planina Podvežak, from where we have a beautiful view towards Rogatec and Lepenatka.
From the pasture we continue on the marked but initially less visible path, which soon enters the forest. The path through the forest ascends somewhat more steeply, then passes into a small unwooded valley, above which it levels out completely. This is followed by a few minutes of traversing slopes under the side ridge of Deska, after which the path brings us to a less noticeable junction, where an unmarked path branches off to the left leading towards Deska and Vodotočno jezero. We continue straight on the marked path, which descends into a pleasant grassy plain, then turns slightly to the right and ascends through a belt of dwarf pines. At the top of the ascent the path from planina Vodole joins from the right, but we continue left, cross the pasture fence and after a few more steps reach Inkretov studenec, which is located only a few meters from the path.
Only a gentle ascent follows, after which the path levels out again and brings us under the relatively steep and in snow avalanche-dangerous slopes of Tolsti vrh. A little further on the pleasant path brings us to a marked junction, where we continue slightly right in the direction of the chapel on Molička peč (slightly left Korošica). The path ahead descends slightly, then continues in a moderate ascent across a series of several small valleys. Soon we reach a smaller junction, where a path branches off to the left that returns to the marked path towards Korošica, and to the right the path towards planina Ravne and Dolga Trata. We continue straight on the wide and pleasant path, which after a few more minutes of walking brings us to the Prag saddle, where the next junction is located.
We continue slightly left (right planina Ravne and Veliki vrh) on the marked mountain path, which gradually begins to descend. After a good 10 minutes of descent the path levels out and brings us to a small swamp, after which we reach the next junction. We continue straight (slightly left Korošica, right Robanov kot) on the pleasant mountain path, on which after a few more minutes of walking we arrive at Kocbekovo zavetišče pod Ojstrico.
From the shelter we ascend to the small church from where we have a beautiful view towards Krofička and down into Robanov kot. From the small saddle at the church we continue left uphill on a somewhat less trodden trail and soon we will notice red line markings on the rocks. The path turns left again and after a short ascent brings us to a junction. Straight ahead the path leads towards Korošica, but we continue right where a large wooden signpost for the Kocbek path directs us.
The path here turns right and bypasses a small cavity or overhang on the right side. Here the path becomes more demanding and ascends up a steep slope alongside some dwarf pines. Since the path is unsecured and somewhat less trodden, a little more caution is required. When the path levels out somewhat, a traversing ascent to the left follows. The path here runs under a smooth wall and is initially grassy, then followed by a short section over scree. The path then turns right and again becomes more demanding and ascends several times up a steep slope. Higher up the path becomes somewhat less demanding and turns right. We continue ascending for some time on an increasingly scenic path, then join the better-trodden and officially marked path over Sedelce (1902m).
From the junction the path ascends on the left side of the ridge and after a few more minutes of walking brings us under the indistinct summit of Mala Ojstrica, which we recognize by the miniature Aljažev stolp. When we step right below the summit of Mala Ojstrica, we leave the marked path that leads to Ojstrica and continue right on a steep path, on which in less than a minute of further walking we ascend to the summit of Mala Ojstrica.
