Ugh, we have a few exceptionally bright ones here. Stop with your educational statements and take a book in hand instead - to avoid dementia and to calm yourself - both in words and actions. No place here for such people. Here people ask for some experience and some advice and nothing else.

I'm a bit surprised by the extremely low culture and inability to restrain one's own thoughts, even more words, of some hikers (if we can even call them that). Such statements are for home (for the WC), and such individuals are only suitable for there! If the dog climbs where even some such quasi-hiker can't, probably the owner isn't to blame. If the dog has the ability to be an avalanche dog (which it is), probably the owner isn't to blame either. Probably you'd be damn happy about it then, right??? Let the hoof judge the shoes.... LP

I was two years ago with a golden retriever on the summit. The ascent and descent we did in one day. Approach was via Planika and to the ridge. But true, the dog must be used to walking on rocks (mine is, as it was already on quite a few ascents) and the owner himself must be skilled in fast walking or climbing, because the dog has a faster climbing pace than we might like. Also watch out for rocks that you quickly trigger in such ascent. And one more tip: don't go on weekends or July and August (too many scared people on these paths!!)
