Hello, a feast for the eyes and the soul. Every little flower is beautiful in its own way. This Carniolan lily is really something special. JCERNI, is evening primrose your local name for this evening primrose (Oenothera glazioviana Micheli)?

otiv, how right you are. We really sometimes purely unnecessarily embitter life. It always upsets me when someone is hurt. Often we see only ourselves, our hurt, our problems, make too quick conclusions, react too fast...Then it's good to pause a bit, look around and see other people we haven't tried to understand, who each have their life story and problems too... So it's good to be tolerant to each other and allow and let our difference. I'll stop, because here is no place for "philosophizing", but for our beautiful nature.

Malenka, as I know Zvončica, she surely didn't mean it the way her sentence can also be understood. Maybe she omitted "also", or she meant some really special unknown that only you can unravel. Who wouldn't be grateful to you for all the time and wealth you donate here. She'll probably write it herself. Nice regards

Zvončica, thanks. I saw you wrote me a few words privately a few days ago, but I accidentally deleted them and couldn't reply. Lp

My words, that the plant should be known for the search engine—at least the family or species besides the color—were intended for Kati, who knew only the color. In general I agree with you. I believe that many people who occasionally drop in here or stay here longer, know and use other sites and browsers too. It depends, of course, on the person's motivation and knowledge not only of botany, but also computer use, learning ability, which declines with the years, time etc. Here there are also retirees, basic biology knowledge is already very distant, memory fails, many don't have much time, especially grandmas. And really there's nothing wrong if we meet here and kindly help each other, people with different levels of plant knowledge, interest and wishes.

Dear Malenka, I know very well all that you are explaining to me. It seems to me that the problem is that you look through the eyes of a woman who has gained huge knowledge over the years and for you everything is more or less "a piece of cake", but here many are taking first steps. For example, if someone has an unknown plant, they can determine only color, family, genus, species... but specific properties are Greek to them. They also can't identify it from photos. I understand Kati so well that it's not primarily laziness and illusory expectations from the search engine. On the other hand many plants are not yet included and search can't always help, thanks to you the list will improve greatly, we are very grateful for that. We are here to exchange plant photos we love so much, but also to help each other with our modest lay knowledge, or better ignorance, and make mistakes too. In enthusiasm we are often too confident, don't settle for family or genus and make wild guesses. Of course it's real luxury that you joined and doubts about identification correctness are gone.

Kati, if I understand correctly, you search in the search engine for plants you already know, unknowns you try to figure out here on the forum.

Zvončica, thanks, on vacation I have more time, but such a small computer that I'd need a microscope.

Hello, malenka, I was guessing these Romanian flowers last year, this computer has no diacritics, sorry, and if you feel like it, please check them on page 335. Then I found out it's red homulica (Sedum roseum), later I saw it's a synonym for Rhodiola rosea and that I kind of Slovenianized it myself, for Erica spiculifolia (Bruchenthalia spiculifolia), Lomatogonium rotatum, Aconitum moldavicum...Nice regards to all, Apolonija

Hello, malenka, welcome to this site. As you see, laypeople really need someone with a lot of botanical knowledge to occasionally review our plants and teach us about mistakes, especially recurring ones. So we're left to ourselves, our enthusiasm for plants and guessing which flower it is. Now I see it's really Salix reticulata, the red fruits confused me. Did they sneak in from another plant? Thanks for the help.

Driada, on the question about logarice I turned to the botanical society and forward the answer: Hello! I raised your question at the BDS general assembly. The Botanical Society is ready to help prevent the destruction of the marsh logarica site, but for any activity we need more information. I suggest you contact Mateja Poljanšek, whom I added to cc of this message. It would also make sense to inform Dušan Klenovšek about the problem, also a BDS member who knows those areas well and is very active in nature conservation. His e-mail is: dusan.klenovsek@guest.arnes.si. I hope a solution can be found. So contact Dušan Klenovšek or/and write to matejapol@gmail.com Regards, Polona

Zlatica, oh that streaked crocus! So beautiful. Is the yellow dogwood already blooming?

Obviously you managed, Otiv, to find, photograph and present to us the pale obloglavka from Kras. Maybe Zlatica will publish it too. Winter without flowers will, it seems, be quite short. To my/our joy. Thanks for posting them
