Hello, I checked the last 10-15 pages, couldn't find a similar topic, so opening a new one. In short, this winter I've started getting drawn to the mountains. The problem is I don't know how to tackle the first "ascent" to some two-thousander and which one it should be for the first time. As the title says, I'm a beginner with mountains. Last summer I got hooked on mountaineering and did some hills or ferratas. Via italiana to Mangart saddle, Hanzova on Mojstrovka, ferrata Češka koča, Mangart Slovenian route, Mojstrana red, Jerman forest Martuljek and probably some more, but no experience with winter conditions. I have beginner winter gear. No practical experience using crampons and ice axe. Thinking of trying Mojstrovka (South route) for the first time. Say on a weekend when it's crowded enough, since no candidates to go with me right now. Maybe recommend some beginner winter mountaineering course (Stratus, Kofler etc.)? Thinking of hiring a mountain guide for a couple ascents? Maybe overcomplicating, or just go for some easier route? Which one suggest? Is South route on Little Mojstrovka ok? Thanks for all advice Wishing you safe steps in 2020

Thanks everyone for the tips. I think quite similarly as bongo mentioned. Some things are "by the book" correct, some are what you can realize in practice. best regards
