Hi I've been into mountains especially alpinism for quite a while now but it always fascinates me anew when the topic turns to hiking climbing... then and now.
To not waffle too much today I was looking for pitons among the gear of my late grandpa and I found a bag of small brass spikes similar in my opinion to some drill washers I've also checked old literature but nothing is written anywhere if anyone has more knowledge about this (if there's some alpinist up there) I recommend for some description and if you have some interesting piece of gear yourself maybe throw up a picture so we'll expand the horizons about gear and its use a bit.

Thanks for all replies especially @Dr.ejči right when you wrote that it's a uniform belt loop I remembered one family member and yes it belongs to his uniform which is much older than what you assumed it's still from the time of the old Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It already seemed strange to me that such nicely finished ends would be some drill bits but I didn't think of uniform (too young generation). On top you wouldn't think such a loop would lie among the "forge" I'd rather ask although on the wrong forumnasmeh
