I apologize if I did not make myself clear. I fully respect bivouac for emergencies only, and if there are people misusing it I am sorry for them. Our mountaineering group operates shelters in Czechia, so believe that I know what kind of work it is. I have no problem paying for accommodation and the only reason we did not do so is that it is very difficult to find up-to-date contact info for some of the huts and difficult email communication with some of them.

@n3jc

We do not depend on bivaks nor count on them. I respect their emergency purpose. I also edited the map and marked Frischaufov dom as burned down.

Thanks for your advice, it seems to me that if we stay in Klemenča jama, then we probably shorten the plan and use Turski žleb to get back to Dom v Kamniški Bistrici. We are ready for via ferrata, so if weather permits it will be nice.

Second option will be to reach something like Dom planincov on the first day and sleep outside, which will make the second day less drastic.

@Janez Seliškar: We are discussing a two-day trip under Mrzla Gora and advice for it. If there is a better place for this, send me a link.

@coffee on closer look at the map https://en.mapy.cz/s/mujafutafa there are parts which are T4 difficulty (red dots), but there are no marks for ferratas. This might be the reason why you say that reality is different.

@coffee I won't translate this to my girlfriend. She is fine with any kind of rain, but once there is lightning she stops speaking nasmeh on the other hand she is much better sandrock climber than me ...

That sounds pretty comparable to Tatras, usually we would take only raincoats and if we see a storm, then we know where to hide ...

@coffee If I take Tatra mountains (comparable mountains in Slovakia), even if the forecast is fine it may change during one day. How stable it is in your Alps? Currently the link you sent me says for 5-6 July (dates of our hike) minimal temperature at night around 3 degrees which should be fine for me, but not for my girlfriend - she is a mountaineer but hates cold nights nasmeh

@djimuzl I am really looking forward to these views.

If we were able to secure accommodation in Dom planincov or even Frischauf Lodge I think that during first day we might be able to end up there.

If we take a tent like @coffee suggests, then we might risk it and come without reservation and in the worst case we end up in a tent.

Guys, thanks very much for your advice, it makes me really look forward to next week, for ferratas we are bringing "mountaineers sets" and express carabiners (sorry do not know right name in English).

@coffee - on the map I use there are two very difficult parts between Kranj Lodge and Cescka koca, after that they are marked difficult and normal. So you are saying that those very difficult parts are also above Czeska koča direction Kokorsko sedlo.

BTW one of the things I want to do on our road is to correctly mark the difficulty of paths in OpenStreetMap.
gorn30. 06. 2020 19:27:26
(We are fit for a ferrata and we do climb on sandrock for example, but we will be tired at that point so I think we rather avoid it, especially if it is "very difficult" grade)
gorn30. 06. 2020 19:26:22
Aha, I must look at path grades more closely, it is not contained in map I have as far as I know. Are there any good online trail maps? We do plan to get the paper one thought ...
gorn30. 06. 2020 19:13:06
Also if we see that it is too far we can decide to go through Turski žleb for the second day.

@cofee

That is a great idea, but we consider going without tent and sleeping bags for emergency cases only. We do not know the place so well to set up tent just anywhere, but if you say it is allowed, then we might think about it. However it still means to take tent = more weight.

However the point with water is very good, we are certainly taking a lot of water with us to be sure and/or just buy it in kučas, money is not real problem here.

@garmont, sorry if it is not interesting for you if there were better place to ask, I would certainly move there.
gorn30. 06. 2020 18:49:45
@cofee thanks a lot!

We are not going to use bivak unless in big trouble (which they have been made for I believe).

We would go further in first day, but we were not able to secure reservation further on the road and we do not want to "risk" staying outside.

Thanks for the weather link, we have very good weather forecast in Czechia so I do not want to rely on the "global" forecast, but Norway model tends to be very good for Europe, at least for Czechia.
gorn30. 06. 2020 16:31:22
Thanks a lot, I have been able to reach the Klemenča Jama to get reservation. Is that true that kuča means basically simple hotel with beds and sheets and bivak means small emergency shelter with own sleeping bag but principally free and open?

Now we wonder whether we can go in one day from Klemenča Jama through the valley, Jazersko sadlo, near following Slovenska planinska pot to Kokrsko Sadlo and reach Dom v Kamniški Bistrici. It looks like very long for one day (theoretically 10hrs, but who knows).

What are the typical temperatures these days?
