My girlfriend and I have decided to go on a 3-day trip along the paths of the Soča front http://www.slovenia.info/?pohodnistvo=329&lng=1 . This is our first multi-day tour and we're asking for some advice on what to take with us (besides the basic things to wear and eat ).

Since the vacation is longer than three days (actually we have another 7 days after this first tour) and we'd like to comb through the Bovec area and explore the beauties of the Soča, and visit Rabelj Lake, please give some tips on where to usefully spend your time hiking....

I said I'd ask the professionals , as I've been researching what watch to buy for two days and went to stores today and must say that by weight and looks, Suunto Ambit3 Peak and Garmin Fenix 3 (no HR) suit me best. These watches attracted me especially with battery endurance and good reviews of GPS performance and other things. The only big concern is that the watches are quite old and fear of losing software support.

Would appreciate some first-hand experiences regarding these two watches... Because basically, it's important to me that the watch measures steps, is good for swimming and hill running. I also tried the Fenix 5, which is available abroad for a good price, but it's a bit heavier and the looks aren't as nice to me.

Oh and also, is 50 cm length (reaches a bit over the knee) enough for walking or is it better to have a longer ice axe according to experiences?

Thanks for your kind replies, some were really "kind", actually I've done some hikes and know how to find descriptions online, still asking for some advice - experience on the desired ascent, if that's hard to understand then no need for advice and other comments.

Irina, for you too. I checked the website, but still interested where to get some cheap accommodation not listed online, from experience there's plenty everywhere and sometimes you don't know the place and ask others for a tip.

From Tolmin or Most na Soči we'll return by train back to Bohinjska Bistrica - where we'll also leave the car.
In Bovec and at Rabelj Lake we'll probably just camp.
We're setting off on Thursday.

Oh one more thing I'm curious about, what's the difficulty for conquering Rombon?
