Roter Knopf is 3281 meter high peakon which a cross stands and is part of the Schober Group. The peak is located 8 km east-southeast from the center of Glor-Berg and 8 km east from the center of Lesach. The nearest mountain hut is Elberfelder Hütte, located 1.9km east. And bivouac Gösnitzkopf-Biwak is also close by. 3 km east-southeast from the summit there is glacier Hornkees. Northeast of the summit is the valley Gössnitztal.
