Hochstubofen is 2385 meter high peak located in the Lower Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 8 km southeast from the center of Sankt Nikolai im Sölktal and 9 km northwest from the center of Pöllau am Greim and 1.4 km northwest of peak Rettlkirchspitze. The nearest mountain hut is Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte, located 2km northwest. A little further is Zettlerhütte. West of the summit is the valley Rantengraben.
