Sauofen is 2415 meter high peak located in the Lower Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 7 km south-southwest from the center of Sankt Nikolai im Sölktal and 9 km north-northeast from the center of Hintermühlen. The nearest mountain hut is Rudolf-Schober-Hütte, located 4km west-southwest. A little further is Trafleralm. Southwest of the summit is the valley Rantengraben.
