Schwarzwand is 2214 meter high peak and is part of the Gurktal Alps. The peak is located 5 km east from the center of Atzensberg and 5 km north-northwest from the center of Innerkrems. The nearest mountain hut is Laußnitzeralm, located 1.8km north-northwest. Kirchbaumerhütte is also relatively close. The peak is located southwest of the lake Ottsee. West of the summit is the valley Katschtal.
