Steiner Scharte is a saddle at an altitude of 2736 meters in the Dachstein Mountains. The saddle is located 0.5 km north-northwest of peak Niederer Dachstein. The nearest mountain hut is Seethalerhütte, located 1.2km southeast. A little further is bivouac Ramsau Schi Willy/Rittislift. West from the saddle there is glacier Großer Gosaugletscher, 3 km east-southeast from the saddle there is also glacier Schladminger Gletscher. South of the saddle is the valley Preunegg.
