Hochgasser is 2922 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 3 km east-southeast of peak Tauernkogel. The nearest mountain hut is St. Pöltner Hütte, located 2km west-northwest. A little further is bivouac Karl-Fürst-Hütte. 5 km east-southeast from the summit there is glacier Landeggkees, 6 km east-southeast from the summit there is also glacier Sonnblickkees. Southwest of the summit is the valley Gschlößtal.
