Scharkogel is 2708 meter high peakon which a cross stands located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 1.7 km west-southwest of peak Geralkopf. The nearest mountain hut is Fürthermoaralm/Ebmatten, located 4km east. A bit closer is Wurf Hochalm, which is located 1.5km to the northwest. 1.6 km south-southeast from the summit there is glacier Schwarzkarlkees, 1.8 km northeast from the summit there is also glacier Maurerkees. South-southwest of the summit is the valley Dorfer Tal.
