Obere Lainkarscharte is a saddle at an altitude of 2340 meters located in the High Tauern mountain range. The saddle is located 6 km east-southeast from the center of Böckstein and 6 km southeast from the center of Bad Gastein. The nearest mountain hut is Hannoverhaus, located 4km south-southeast. A bit closer is Radeckalm, which is located 1.7km to the south. North of the saddle there is lake Gamskarlsee. 4 km east from the saddle there is glacier Tischlerkarkees, 4 km east from the saddle there is also glacier Grubenkarkees. East of the saddle is the valley Kleinelendtal.
