Grauer Schimmel is 3053 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 0.7 km northwest of peak Muntanitz. The nearest mountain hut is Kalser Tauernhaus, located 3km east-southeast. A little further is bivouac Karl-Fürst-Hütte. 1.7 km south-southeast from the summit there is glacier Gradötzkees, 5 km east-northeast from the summit there is also glacier Vorderes Kastenkees. East of the summit is the valley Dorfer Tal.
