Kleiner Burgstall is 2709 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 1.9 km northeast of peak Glocknerhorn. The nearest mountain hut is Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte, located 2km south. A bit closer is bivouac Glocknerbiwak, which is located 1.2km to the southwest. 4 km east-southeast of the peak there is lake Sandersee. 1.0 km south-southwest from the summit there is glacier Glocknerkees, 1.3 km east-southeast from the summit there is also glacier Pasterze. The peak is located north-northeast of the valley Ködnitztal.
