Oberer Muntanitzpalfen is 3170 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 7 km east-northeast from the center of Berg and 7 km east-northeast from the center of Gruben. The nearest mountain hut is Kalser Tauernhaus, located 3km east. A little further is bivouac Karl-Fürst-Hütte. 1.0 km south-southwest from the summit there is glacier Gradötzkees, 5 km north from the summit there is also glacier Granatspitzkees. East-northeast of the summit is the valley Dorfer Tal.
