The peak is located 6 km east from the center of Sankt Johann am Tauern and 9 km south-southeast from the center of Hohentauern. The nearest mountain hut is Franzlbauerhütte, located 3km west-northwest. A little further is bivouac St. Johann am Tauern Ortsmitte. 0.8 km north of the peak there is lake Hirschensee.
