Zwölfer is 2404 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 3 km southeast from the center of Krimml and 4 km south from the center of Vorderkrimml and 2 km north of peak Hütteltalkopf. The nearest mountain hut is Berndlalm, located 5km east-southeast. A little further is Niederalm. 6 km southwest from the summit there is glacier Weißkarkees, 6 km west-southwest from the summit there is also glacier Wildkarkees. West-southwest of the summit is the valley Krimmler Achental.
