Retteneggkogel is 1101 meter high peak in the Prealps East of the Mur. The peak is located 1.2 km east from the center of Rettenegg and 7 km north from the center of St. Jakob im Walde. The nearest mountain hut is Schwarzriegel-Alm, located 5km north-northwest. A little further is altes Mauthäuschen. North-northeast of the summit is the valley Fröschnitzgraben.
