Hinterer Schober is 2650 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 6 km west-southwest from the center of Hintermuhr and 8 km west from the center of Muhr. The nearest mountain hut is Rotgüldenseehütte, located 1.6km east. A little further is bivouac Albert-Biwak. Southwest of the summit is the valley Maltatal.
