Zernerkogel is 912 meter high peak and is part of the Prealps East of the Mur. The peak is located 1.4 km south-southeast from the center of Pötschach and 1.8 km east-southeast from the center of Krottendorf. The nearest mountain hut is Ottokar-Kernstock-Haus, located 4km south. A little further is Pötschner Alm. Northeast of the summit is the valley Glawockengraben.
