Kleiner Rotstein is 3048 meter high peak and is part of the Rieserferner Group. The peak is located on the border between the country of Italy and the country of Austria. The nearest mountain hut is Jausenstation Jagdhausalm, located 3km northeast. A little further is Furtalm. 3 km east-southeast of the peak there is lake Sankt-Josef-See. 0.7 km east-northeast from the summit there is glacier Fleischbachkees, 4 km south-southeast from the summit there is also glacier Lenksteinferner - Vedretta di Sasso Lungo. North-northwest of the summit is the valley Knuttental.
