Catania is an ancient port city on the eastern coast of Sicily. Founded by the Greeks in 729 BC, it has a history rich in cultural heritages from Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese, Spanish eras that you will find in its beautiful monuments. Today's city, predominantly eighteenth-century, is the result of the reconstruction after the strong earthquake of 1693.
