Description: © CLAUDIO MORTINI ❀ Ischia Ponte, called 'Borgo di Celsa della Città d'Ischia' already from the end of the 1300s due to the plants that characterized the landscape, has preserved the charm and allure of a typical fishing village. This place, guardian of the unforgettable Castello Aragonese, was the first inhabited center of the municipality of Ischia and was the scene of the Neapolitan Revolution of 1799. It is made of palaces and churches, alleys and balconies, stairs and gardens. A place rich in history but full of contrasts: on one side noble architecture, on the other poor, consisting of fishermen's houses. Even today Ischia Ponte largely retains the appearance it had when it arose between the 17th and 18th centuries, when the inhabitants decided to leave the Castle and settle there.
