Montone (PG) was built on a hill in a beautiful panoramic position between two tributaries of the same Tiber: the Carpina and the Lana.
Castle already in the high Middle Ages, it was then controlled by the families that over the years held dominion over the entire area, such as: the Del Monte, the Fortebraccio, the Vitelli; around the middle of the 16th century, finally, it was subjected to the Papal States.
