Description: © CLAUDIO MORTINI* An exciting journey back in time through the streets of the ancient medieval village of Arrone, a few kilometers from the Marmore Falls and Terni.
The peculiarity of the Arrone nativity scene is the medieval and unique environment in which the various scenes unfold; the Castle is in fact an ancient fortress that retains intact the flavor of the past with its alleys, stone houses, old walls, the Romanesque-era church with recently restored frescoes from the mid-fifteenth century, and finally the sixteenth-century tower that from its 17 meters high dominates the entire valley of the lower Valnerina. The entrance to the nativity coincides with the ancient stone arch that closed the city walls. In the area of the watchtower opposite the arch, a first refreshment point where numerous women in Arab garb prepare delicious sweet or savory pizzoles and visitors have the opportunity to warm up and prepare for the climb that leads to the next arch, where two Roman guards block the way to allow guided entry into the castle.
