Every year the atmosphere of the Christmas holidays becomes more strident and unbearable. I feel growing discomfort, not so much towards the Christian holiday almost completely paganized but towards the atmosphere of false serenity and artificial joy that one must feel around Christmas. One wonders if Christmas, understood in a Christian way, still retains a meaning, what it is – if it still exists – its residual sense and if it is possible to recover something of the original spirit. A special thought for those who have lost their job or who still hope for the first employment!
