It is located in the western part of the Low Tatras.
Chabenec is part of the main ridge between Ďurková (1,750 m a.s.l.) and Kotliská (1,937 m a.s.l.).
Our hike started in the village of Magurka (part of Liptovská Lúžna) from the namesake hut.
