Description: We are finally back from our MTB expedition! We set off for a month to ride summits of 6000 m by bike in the Cordillère des Andes. Everything in complete autonomy, without guide, without assistance, nor oxygen, in a region that is one of the driest zones on the globe. Thus, to the constraints of very high altitude are added those of the desert, to compose a demanding cocktail: total isolation (the nearest inhabited zone is 250 km by track), lack of oxygen (at 6000 m, there is only 47% oxygen rate), extreme temperatures (from 37°C to -15°C, sometimes in the same day), unleashed weather (thunderstorms, sudden snowfalls, violent winds...), difficult access zones (we took the 4x4s higher than Mont Blanc), all this leading to total exhaustion tinged with altitude sickness... We really pushed the bodies and vehicles to the limit of what was possible.
