The Weissmies is a beautiful and popular 4,000er in Valais with impressive and imposing glacier landscape high above Saas-Grund. The overriding view makes you forget the efforts of the ascent. The mountain can also be done in one day from the valley with the cable car. But much nicer is to overnight at Weissmies Hütte, 2,726m, and start early in the morning from there. At the latest, when the first sunrays hit Dom, 4,545m, and Alphubel, 4,206m, you know why. The tour itself on the normal route is usually always well tracked and critical only if large crevasses are open.
