Description: Fürenalp, Engelberg, Switzerland
The village of Engelberg in the canton of Obwalden in central Switzerland offers several via ferratas. The Fürenwand (Fürenalp) is one of the most difficult and spectacular in the region. With its 720m positive elevation gain, this route takes you quickly above the treeline. Dizzying and relatively technical, it requires good via ferrata mastery! A several-hour route not for everyone but a must for experienced ferratists.
