This Advent hike in Seckau leads us to the Schachenkirche hidden in the forest.
With an Advent hike in the Seckau municipality, you can combine several sensory and enjoyable moments. There are numerous recreation and circular hiking trails in the municipality, so you can happily extend this Advent hike a bit. Since some sections of the tour are in the forest, we recommend hiking late morning or around noon to fully enjoy the warmth of the winter sun. During the hike, we reach the 1st Advent station, the Schachenkirche, also called Schutzengelkirche, which is somewhat hidden in the forest. The Schachenkirche was built in the 18th century and is now a branch church of the Seckau parish, like the churches on Hochalm and Tremmelberg. We recommend the 2nd Advent station near Stift Seckau, specifically on the large meadow in front of the monastery. Here you will find several benches along the path to relax comfortably and enjoy both the view and the Seckau Lebkuchen.
