The Aeolian Islands (Ìsuli Eoli in Sicilian), also called Lipari Islands, are an archipelago belonging to the Aeolian arc located in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea, north of the Sicilian coast. Of volcanic origin, it includes the two active volcanoes Stromboli and Vulcano and various secondary volcanism phenomena; administratively it is part of the Metropolitan City of Messina. The archipelago is a very popular tourist destination: the islands attract up to 600,000 visitors annually.
