Ammergau Alps - Mountain hike to Schafkopf

We spontaneously decide to drive to Farchant and hike up the 1,380 m high Schafkopf. We park our car on Spielleitenweg in Farchant and start our tour. The tour leads continuously through the forest and thus provides plenty of shade on hot days. Some spots invite breaks and cooling off especially on sunny days. Normally, the hiker has a great view of the Wetterstein massif during the ascent, but unfortunately, high fog spreads during the climb and blocks any view. Upon reaching the top, we only see a white wall. A beautiful and comfortable bench at the summit cross still invites us to rest. We gladly accept the invitation and enjoy our packed lunch before hiking back down.
