Description:
ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT DOLOMITES SHORT HOLIDAY - SETSAS 2571m
On the 4th day of my short holiday, on recommendation I visit Piz Ciampei, a forepeak, and SETSAS, and what was offered to me here was simply unbeatable - this summit is one of the most beautiful panoramic peaks in the Dolomites, you don't get such a view on many mountains! I started directly at Valparolapass after enjoying the sunrise there! At Rifugio Valparola this very special journey begins, so close and yet so far! I first go on unmarked paths to the first two hills, where no one goes, completely alone I enjoy the panorama on both peaks that is offered to me today, great visibility, then I go back to the marked path No. 24 towards Setsas - my actual goal for today. The tour without the two peaks before should only have about 600hm, first you climb up to then descend again quite a bit, it goes through the autumn forest and finally it goes uphill, up to the notch and along the ridge then to the rocky final ascent to Setsas - and then I stand up there and words really fail me!!! I haven't experienced such a panorama often - breathtaking, overwhelming, unique but see for yourself! After some time at the summit I decide to have my summit snack further down, where the wind doesn't blow so much and you can sit more comfortably. Even there I can't get enough of Piz Boe, Marmolada and co. With the peaks before it became 900hm and 13km that I covered, it often looked like rain but it held, I had mega cloud moods and am so flashed! After the tour it's a 5-hour drive back home wistfully, the impressions of the last 4 days had to be processed - I have to come back soon!
