Description:
The Kirchensee near Zarrentin is a former bay of the Schaalsee, cut off from the main lake by the Schrangendamm and now connected to it only by a small opening.
The lake is considered an ancient settlement site, proven by discovered pile dwellings. On the Schrangen peninsula between Schaalsee and Kirchensee, there was a restaurant until World War II, visited by excursion boats. Today, numerous wall and stair remnants remain.
