The Black Diamond ATC Pilot strongly resembles the Salewa Ergo and is surprisingly similar in handling. The difference lies more in the details. The Pilot is a bit more forgiving in rope payout and doesn't lock as abruptly as the Ergo, making it particularly suitable for slightly thicker single ropes. With very thin ropes, however, the device does not lock completely. A slight rope slippage under load can then be observed, but it's not a big issue if you're aware of it. The Pilot is supplied without a matching carabiner and can be used with any HMS carabiner with a locking mechanism.
