Borderlands know how to give great emotions, where once there were impassable borders, today there are perfect roads and bucolic landscapes.
Starting from Prepotto we went up the Judrio river to the former Molino Vecchio border crossing. Once in Slovenia the climb begins which in 6 km took us to the Marian Sanctuary of Maria Zell in the village of Lig. After a short break we headed towards the top of Monte Korada, reachable via a dirt road and a short trail. From here a nice descent begins to reach the junction for Monte Sabotino. Meanwhile the landscape changes slowly, chestnut woods give way to vineyards and the first karst reliefs. The climb to Monte Sabotino is about 8 km long, only the last two are demanding. At the Slovenian refuge you enjoy a splendid view of the Isonzo plain to the sea; refuge open and light lunch. From here descent again, then short climb first to Gornje Cerovo and then to Dobrovo. Past Neblo we entered a narrow valley which after yet another climb took us to the mini village of Golo Berdo, before returning to Prepotto via Albana.
