Today I take you into my archive. These recordings from 2004 are still made on mini DV in 4:3 format. After the Super 8 era, this recording method was the breakthrough in the amateur sector. Sony and Panasonic brought out the first camcorders of this kind in 1995 and the image quality was lengths better than the S-VHS used up to that point. To not disturb the birds during breeding, I placed two camera systems on the balcony and let the 60-minute cassettes simply run. When the hour was up, it was changed, the material viewed and the usable recordings saved on the computer. On many days during the breeding season, this procedure took place - this is how this documentation came about.
