Description:
Video of the ascent to Sasso Rosso (2645 meters), in the Brenta Dolomites. Its name derives from the characteristic color of its rock, which immediately catches the eye, differing from that of the surrounding mountains. The ascent was facilitated by the night spent at the Costanzi Albasini bivouac, located right at its foothills at 2365 meters, from which I could watch a breathtaking sunset. I started the hike in Val di Non at Lago di Tovel, at 1177 meters altitude and first reached Malga Tuena at 1735 meters, below the southeast wall of Cima Uomo. From here proceed towards locality Prà Castron di Tuenno (2311 m) first and Passo di Prà Castron (2502 m) then. From here the bivouac is already in sight, located on a plateau with view of Carè Alto and Presanella. In the morning I continued towards the col separating Cima Nana and Sasso Rosso and then, after reaching the summit, completed the loop around Sasso Rosso and returned to Lago di Tovel. Total elevation gain 1660 meters and 18.8 km covered.
