Buchensteinwand is considered the panoramic mountain of the Pillerseetal.
The 1462m high mountain is easily reachable from St. Jakob im Haus by the Pillersee cable car. But it can also be hiked.
At the foot of the mountain are St. Jakob im Haus, Fieberbrunn and the well-known winter sports resort Hochfilzen.
